Brownies

Fudgy American brownies with intense chocolate flavor - a classic that always delights.

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Grease a square baking pan (approx. 20x20 cm) or line with parchment paper.
  3. Melt chocolate and butter in a double boiler or microwave.
  4. Stir in sugar and let cool slightly.
  5. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  6. Sift flour and salt and gently fold in.
  7. If using nuts, mix them in at the end.
  8. Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes - brownies should be firm outside but still slightly soft inside.
  10. Let cool completely before cutting.

Tips

  • Brownies are done when an inserted toothpick comes out slightly moist
  • Don't overbake - they'll become dry
  • Taste best the next day
  • Can be served dusted with powdered sugar
